Exploring the impact of testing policies on college access during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The College Admissions Futures Co-Laborative is a multi-institutional partnership of higher education faculty, researchers, and scholar-practitioners who bring expertise on topics of college admissions, race, class, policy, and organizational practices through a lens of intersectionality.

This CAF Co-Lab was awarded funding by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for a two-year research project aimed at analyzing admission policy changes and enrollment trends for college students in a test-optional admissions environment.

 This project includes three components:

  • Understanding the impact of test-optional policies on enrollment for Black, Latinx, Indig, and low-income students

  • Developing a clearinghouse for prospective students, families, and counselors on application requirements

  • Exploring possible inequality within non-standardized components of college applications (letters of recommendation and extracurricular activities)
