Jia Zheng
Jia Zheng is a research assistant under Dr. Julie J. Park and a doctoral candidate in the Higher Education, Student Affairs, and International Education Policy Program at the University of Maryland, College Park. She is currently conducting research on Asian international students' perceptions and experiences of race, racialization, racism, and neo-racism at a Historically White Institution in the United States. Jia's research interests also include the internationalization of higher education, international students' engagement with activism, and retention of BIPOC womxn faculty. Jia is committed to using critical theories and methodologies to interrogate and redress systemic inequities.
As a former student affairs practitioner, Jia worked in various capacities within residential life at Duke Kunshan University in China. Prior to her current role, Jia served as the instructor for leadership theory and practice courses in the Leadership Studies Program and a graduate coordinator at the Office of Student Conduct at the University of Maryland, College Park. Jia received her Bachelor of Education in English Education at the Education University of Hong Kong and Master in Education in Educational Policy at the University of Washington.
