Joseph Sturm
Joseph Sturm (he/him/his) is a Research Assistant with Dr. Kelly Rosinger and a doctoral student in the Higher Education program at Penn State University. His current research interest is investigating how universities leverage institutional resources to increase the enrollment of different targeted student populations through admissions policies and practices. Particularly, Joseph is interested in exploring how recruitment and marketing efforts may perpetuate systemic inequities and extend White supremacy in higher education. Further, he is interested in understanding how these systems may affect the college-going trajectories of students, especially those of historically underserved backgrounds.
Joseph earned his B.A. in Creative Writing, B.S. in Literacy, Learning, and Leadership, and M.A. in Higher Education at the University of Arizona. Prior to coming to Penn State, he worked as a Research Assistant with the Enrollment Management, Recruiting, and Access (EMRA) Research project, and as a coordinator for the New Start Summer Program, a summer bridge program for first-generation, low-income, and/or students of color.
