Stephanie Breen

Stephanie M. Breen is a doctoral candidate in the Student Affairs program at the University of Maryland, College Park (UMD). Ms. Breen received a Bachelor of Science in History from Suffolk University in Boston and a Master of Arts in Sociology and Education from Teacher’s College at Columbia University.

Currently, Ms. Breen is a Research Assistant at the University of Maryland, College Park, under Dr. Kimberly Griffin and Dr. Julie Park. In addition to her role as a research assistant, Ms. Breen serves as the Program Fellow at the National College Attainment Network (NCAN) located in Washington D.C, where she engages in research and advocacy work around high-impact practices for post-secondary advising and attainment.

As a former college access practitioner at iMentor and Harlem Children’s Zone, Ms. Breen brings a wealth of knowledge, experience, and enthusiasm for supporting historically underrepresented student populations into and through college. Her research interests include access and retention in higher education, critical qualitative research methods, faculty and peer mentoring, higher education policy, and institutional equity-based change.
